The Tagalog word alab or flame is a biblical symbol that signifies God’s
indwelling through the Holy Spirit (Mt. 3: 11-12), purification or
transformation (1 Cor. 3:13), passion, and zeal for service (Acts 2: 1-13).
The Journey to Emmaus of the two disciples in the Gospel of Luke 24: 13-
35 is a typical illustration of encounter, renewal, and mission.
This Resurrection narrative best describes the journey of the Diocese of
Imus through the years as she recalls the Lord’s abiding presence; seeks
for the grace of transformation; and reaches out for mission in the spirit of
pastoral charity and service.
As the Diocese of Imus prepares for the Diocesan Synod in 2026, she will
reflect on this biblical event of the journey of the two disciples as she
entreats the Lord to enkindle the flame for mission.
As part of this preparation, the celebration of the Jubilee Year 2025 in the
Diocese of Imus will include collecting narratives of hope revolving
around the Core Values stated in the Pangarap of the Diocese (maka-
Diyos, makatao, makabuhay, makakalikasan, makabayan).
